- This photograph is my simple homage to the work of Harry Callahan, not of the Clint Eastwood 'Dirty Harry' variety but the American photographer. I really like Callahan's work, it is often very serene. The way I would would describe Callahan is to contrast him to Henri Cartier Bresson; whose work I am actually not that keen on. I would imagine Cartier Bresson could be said -in photographic terms- to characterise 'shutter priority'; whereby the decisive moment of taking the photograph is heralded to be of utmost importance. By contrast, I feel Callahan's work epitomises 'aperture priority' where the portrayal of light and shade is usually the paramount feature of the composition. For me, Callahan's work represents much more of an artistic approach to picture taking.
